AFSA Notice To All Members

Call for self-nomination to serve on the board of AFSA for the 2024-2027 term

In alignment with the constitution of African Forensic Sciences Academy (AFSA), we would like to notify all Members of this call for nominations of candidates for election to the Board of AFSA.

All full members of AFSA in good standing with Chapter 4 and Chapter 5: Article M of the constitution are eligible for election as there are no members who had two consecutive terms as board members yet. As an interim measure for this first general Assembly, the IE decided not to enforce Chapter 5-Article M, Paragraph 5.3.5 and allow full member applicants for whom a document is still outstanding also to be nominated. It is important to note that only individuals who have applied for membership on the general AFSA website at this link: AFSA membership categories & application are eligible for nomination and receiving votes.

Members of the current IE wishing to stand for election must also nominate themselves.

The 1st AFSA General Assembly is scheduled to take place at the AFSA2024 Conference in Kigali, in September 2024 to fill the 5 vacancies of members of the Board of AFSA, for the period until the 2nd General Assembly during 2027, and will endorse the online vote. Elections will be via an online vote to allow all Full Members of the AFSA Assembly to exercise their voting power.

Full members interested to nominate themselves as candidate for election as a member of the board of AFSA should carefully read the functions of the board of AFSA (Chapter 6 of the AFSA constitution), and review the following considerations:

  1. The candidates are only allowed to nominate themselves by submitting the nomination form that can be downloaded here: AFSA NOMINATION FORM
  2. Completed nomination packages must be sent in digital format by no later than 23:59 (CAT, thus UTC+2) on Friday 13 September 2024 to the email address: [email protected].

The AFSA secretariat will send a confirmation of receipt for all nominations received. An email providing the candidate overviews will be communicated to all Full Members by no later than Monday 16 September 2024 with a link on which they can vote.
